Heliographs  since 1826

The term "heliography"was coined by Joseph Nicéphore Niépce to identify the process by which he obtained his earliest photographic images.

Niépce began experimenting with lithographic printmaking—which led to his invention of heliography—because of his inability to draft images by hand. During his trials with lithography, he experimented with light-sensitive varnishes and then with images produced in camera, but he was unable to prevent the images from fading. Niépce discovered that he produced his best results while using a solution of bitumen of Judea, which dated back to the ancient Egyptians but continued to be used for making lithographic engravings in the 1800s.

Worcester was a zoologist of the University of Michigan. He went to Philippines to do his research on the wildlife in the habitat. Cinematography

the art of making motion pictures

Cinematography is defined simply as the illusion of movement by projecting in rapid fashion, many still pictures. Also known as motion pictures, movies or moving pictures, cinematography is a product of nineteenth century ingenuity and experimentation

Motion pictures came to be as the result of numerous other inventions. A large segment of the discoverers came from the new field of photography. Many more came from those who worked with magic lanterns. Some were interested in projecting images, and then others studied how images could be recorded on different materials such as leather and paper. But these were not the only men interested in watching real-life motion unfold before their eyes.

Movie

How did it begin?

In the 1830s, moving images were produced on revolving drums and disks, with independent invention by Simon von Stampfe in Austria, Joseph Plateau in Belgium, and William Horner in Britain.

JACOB RIIS

1849- 1914

Jacob Riis was a Danish immigrant in New York in late 19th century. He got his first stable job in the newspaper to run the crime report column. Later, Jacob wanted to publicize more vivid reality of the underprivileged lower East Side population, however, magazines did not wanted to publish the harsh images of the poor life. And Riis had published his own picture book How other half lives.

Man Ray

1890–1976

“I have finally freed myself from the sticky medium of paint, and am working directly with light itself.” 1So enthused Man Ray (born Emmanuel Radnitzky) in 1922, shortly after his first experiments with camera-less photography. He remains well known for these images, commonly called photograms but which he dubbed “rayographs” in a punning combination of his own name and the word “photograph.”
